Babita, the daughter of actor Hari Shivdasani, appeared in a series of Hindi language films in the 1960s and 70s. Although her 1966 drama Dus Lakh was a hit, it was the romantic thriller Raaz, in which she starred alongside Rajesh Khanna, that helped her become well-known. She played the lead role in nineteen films between 1966 and 1973, including the financially successful Dus Lakh (1966), Farz (1967), Haseena Maan Jayegi and Kismat (both in 1968), Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati (1969), Doli (1969), and Kab? Kyoon? Banphool (1971), Aur Kahan? (1970), and Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971). She appeared in Jeet and Ek Hasina Do Diwane (both in 1972) after being married to actor Randhir Kapoor in 1971. After her next film, Sone Ke Hath (1973), was a commercial failure, she chose to give up acting.
