Karan Johar To Direct ‘His Favourites’ Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt In ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’

Karan Johar's last movie as a director was 2015 release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, which featured Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan as the leads.

Ranveer Singh got a special birthday present from Karan Johar as the filmmaker announced that he will be directing the actor and Alia Bhatt in his upcoming romantic saga titled ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’.

Revealing details about his directorial, Karan Johar shared on Twitter, “Thrilled to get behind the lens with my favourite people in front of it! Presenting Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, headlined by none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy.”

Soon as Karan made the announcement Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh too shared the news on their respective social media handles.

Revealing that the rest of the star-cast will be unveiled soon, Alia Bhatt took to Instgaram and wrote: A love story that is going to be far from the usual, Rocky and Rani ❤️ Stay tuned at 2:00pm to meet the rest of the parivar🕺🏻 #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK

It is after a break of five years that Karan Johar is donning the director’s hat. His last movie as a director was 2015 release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, which featured Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan as the leads.

Earlier on Monday, Karan Johar had shared with fans on Instagram that he would announce his new directorial on July 6 at 11am. Johar shared a behind-the-scene video clip of his successful films of the past as a director.

"This is the beginning of a new journey & my way back home -- all at once. It's time to go back to my favourite place, it's time to create some eternal love stories from behind the lens. A very special story, truly immersed in the roots of love and family. Announcing my next film tomorrow at 11am, watch this space for more! @DharmaMovies @apoorva1972," he wrote as caption.
