New Delhi: On Wednesday (September 21), the great comic Raju Srivastava passed away. Bollywood and the television industry have been mourning his death ever since. Several of the comedian's admirers expressed their sorrow at the loss of their idol on social media. Now, comedian Kapil Sharma also paid a moving homage to his friend and fellow comedian. 


On Instagram, Kapil uploaded an old photo from the sets of the two of them. Kapil Sharma and Raju Srivastava both can be seen smiling and seated in the photo.  


Emotionally, Kapil Sharma published a homage to the late comedian, writing in Hindi, “आज पहली बार आपने रुलाया है राजू भाई 💔 काश एक मुलाक़ात और हो जाती। ईश्वर आपको अपने चरणों में स्थान दें। आप बहुत याद आएँगे।अलविदा 🙏 ओम् शांति (For the first time ever, Raju bhai, you've brought tears to my eyes. I really wish we could have met one more time. We pray that God grants you a seat at his feet. You will be missed. Goodbye. Om Shanti."



Sunil Grover, another comedian, also remembered Raju Srivastav by writing: "RIP Raju Srivastava Ji. He made the whole country laugh. It's sad today that he has gone, too soon. My condolences to family and friends."



For the unversed, On August 10, while working out at a hotel in Delhi, the 58-year-old comic had a cardiac attack. He was immediately taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi and had an angioplasty. After suffering significant brain damage due to his cardiac arrest, Raju Srivastava was under observation at AIIMS in Delhi since August 10. The comedian died on Wednesday, after 41 days of hospitalisation.


Raju Srivastava had carved a niche for himself in the world of stand-up comedy with his well-timed jokes and comic takes on some very relevant situations in life. He rose to fame with the first-of-its-kind stand-up comedy talent hunt show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge', with its first season premiering in the year 2005. 


He appeared in Hindi films such as 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar', 'Bombay to Goa' (remake) and 'Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya'. He was one of the contestants on 'Bigg Boss' season three. He was the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
