New Delhi: The Kannada film ‘Kantara’ has got amazing reviews from audiences, critics, and celebrities alike. The film is also the highest-rated Indian film on IMDb with a rating of 9.4. It is followed by KGF Chapter 2 (8.4) and SS Rajamouli’s RRR (8).     


This love for the film has subsequently shown its effect at the box office while the film collected 1.27 Crore box office collections on the very first day in the Hindi market, which just went on to get double on Saturday with 2.75 Cr on Sunday the film collected Rs 3.5 Cr. Net in the Hindi market taking the total to Rs 7.52 crore over the weekend. 


Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share box office numbers. He tweeted, “#Kantara *#Hindi version* trends very well, achieving a breakthrough on Day 2 and 3... Glowing word of mouth is converting into footfalls... Day 4 expected to be bigger than Day 1... Fri 1.27 cr, Sat 2.75 cr, Sun 3.50 cr. Total: ₹ 7.52 cr. #India biz. Nett BOC.” 



After winning accolades from celebrities like Dhanush, Anil Kumble, Prabhas, Prashanth Neel, and Anushka Shetty, Shilpa Shetty has also expressed her love for the film.

Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara is a visual grandeur that brings alive the traditional culture of Kambala and Bhoota Kola art form to the fore. The soul of the story is on human and nature conflict which is deeply rooted in the coastal culture and folklore of Karnataka. The movie will be released on 800-plus screens across India.     


It tells the story of a local demigod (Bhoota) who trades forest land to the tribe's people with a king in exchange for happiness.   


Directed and led by Rishab Shetty, the movie also stars Sapthami Gowda in the lead. It also stars Kishore and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles.
