New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut has unveiled the first look of her character as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in the upcoming drama 'Emergency'. Produced under the banner of her production house Manikarnika Films, Kangana is all set to make a powerful impact on the audience with her role as the first woman Prime Minister of India.


'Emergency' marks the second biopic of Kangana's career, her first being 'Thalaivii' in which she essayed the character of late actress and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalitha.


Sharing the first look video of the film on social media, she wrote, "Presenting ‘Her’who was called ‘Sir’" Kangana looks striking as PM Indira Gandhi in the teaser of the film. From looks to dialogue delivery and demenor, Kangana seems to have got into the skin of her character.


In the video, Kangana is absolutely nailing it when she says, "Amercia ke President ko kah dena k mukhe mere daftar me sab, Madam nahi, Sir kahte hain," with utmost perfection.

For her role in 'Emergency', the actress took the time out to research the subject and the period in which the film is set. In order to get the look of one of the most powerful and famous politicians in the world, right, the actress ensured that she had the right prosthetics and demeanour to aid her. She roped in Oscar winning makeup artiste David Malinowski to achieve the right look. Malinowski won Oscar for the Best Makeup and Hairstyling for the movie The Darkest Hour (2017). 


According to the actress, the Emergency was a watershed moment in the country’s political history and she was keen on showcasing that period on celluloid. Ranaut took to her Instagram account and urged fans to lookout for the first look of the film which will be unveiled on the Youtube channel of her production company ‘Manikarnika Films.’


On the work front, Kangana's recent movie 'Dhaakad' was a huge flop. Let's see if she manages to strike a chord with the audience with 'Emergency'.
