New Delhi: Actor Kamaal Rashid Khan (KRK) was arrested on Tuesday, August 30, by Malad Police in connection with a controversial tweet he sent in 2020. He was produced before Borivali court and was sent to 14-day judicial custody. He was arrested under Sections 153A, 294, 500, 501, 505, 67, and 98 of the IPC.
The complaint was filed against Kamaal R Khan at Malad Police Station by Yuva Sena member Rahul Kanal.
Kamaal R. Khan often gets into trouble as a result of his insulting tweets and rants against Bollywood movies and stars. After two years of lookout, the police were unable to locate Kamaal in Mumbai. On the afternoon of August 29, KRK was arrested shortly after arriving at the airport.
Reportedly, KRK's deleted 2020 tweet was directed toward actors Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. Due to the imminent opening of wine stores, he had pleaded with Rishi Kapoor not to die during the coronavirus pandemic. And that wasn't all; in yet another tweet, KRK said that the spread of Coronavirus would be impossible without the loss of certain well-known individuals. “Just on a serious note, I said few days ago that #Corona can’t go back without taking few famous people. I didn’t write names that time because ppl could have abused me. But I knew that Irfan and Rishi will go. And I know, who is the next one also”, KRK had tweeted.
At the time, the negative reviews of KRK also prompted an FIR. According to PTI, a law enforcement officer said, “We have registered an FIR against Kamaal R Khan for making derogatory remarks about both the deceased actors under section 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public) and other provisions of the IPC.”
