New Delhi: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is more than elated to announce the new release date of his upcoming film 'Jersey'. The film will now hit the theatres on April 14. Shahid Kapoor's sports drama was earlier slated for a December 31 release, as a New Year's treat to his fans, but got postponed owing to the restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 cases.
Shahid Kapoor, who plays the protagonist in the film, took to his Twitter handle to announce the film's release date. He wrote, "So so happy to announce that our beloved film 'Jersey' will be releasing worldwide in theatres on the 14th of April 2022. See you in the theatres."

Shahid Kapoor, who plays the role of a cricketer in the film, is all set to woo the audience with his power-packed performance. The film has an endearing storyline that shows a father getting back in the game to fulfill his son's dreams. 'Jersey' stars actor Mrunal Thakur as the female lead. The film will also see Shahid's father and veteran actor Pankaj Kapur in a pivotal role.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh also took to his Koo handle to confirm the film's release date.
'Jersey' has been written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The film is the remake of the 2019 Telugu film titled the same, that starred actors Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles.
