New Delhi: Jaya Bachchan's encounters with the press or the paparazzi have often been a topic of discussion. Recently the veteran actor attended Lakme India Fashion Week, along with her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda.
Among the usual commotion, the duo was snapped by the assembled media when a paparazzo stumbled. "Serves you right," Jaya was heard on tape addressing the man. She also added, "I hope you double up and fall!"
This video went viral on the internet and garnered a lot of views.
In the video, she is also seen asking the media. “Aap log koun hain? (Who are you)?” and to which newspaper organization they belong. While Navya tried to calm down her grandma who was losing her cool, the veteran actor continued to question the photographers. She was perplexed when they replied that they were paparazzi.
Unfortunately, this behaviour by the actor was not welcomed by netizens and they poured in their comments saying, "What is she always angry about!" while another user wrote, "Why does she have to disrespect the media on this way? Same media gave you fame. "
A similar incident occurred a few days ago when Jaya Bachchan shouted at people who were trying to snap photographs with her son, actor Abhishek Bachchan. "What are you all doing?" she was heard asking, before adding, "Hadd hoti hai (There is a limit)." Abhishek attempted to calm down his enraged mother, but it did not succeed.
Jaya has an extremely strong bond with Navya. Many people admire the duo's connection, which ranges from going to the movies together to having an open chat on the podcast 'What The Hell Navya.' Jaya recently commented on one of the episodes discussing the growth of social media, “I don’t want this negative energy around me. I abhor it and I feel that people who indulge in nasty trolling should be ashamed of themselves."
