New Delhi: Rakhi Sawant's husband Adil Khan Durrani has had a rough year. Sawant filed a complaint against the businessman, accusing him of assault, stealing money and jewellery from her apartment without her knowledge, and other offences. He faces further charges less than a week after his first arrest. Adil, who has been in judicial detention for 14 days, is the subject of a second FIR. On Sunday, Mysuru police arrested Durrani on charges of rape against an international student.

The 30-year-old Iranian lady who filed the case said that she arrived in Mysuru, India in 2018 to attend a doctor of pharmacy programme.

A mutual acquaintance introduced her to Adil in 2018 while he was managing a restaurant in VV Puram. Adil apparently proposed to her soon after they started dating. The lady said that she and Adil had been sharing an apartment in Yadavagiri for the last three years. According to the lawsuit, Adil threatened the lady with terrible repercussions and physically abused her around five months ago when she persisted in getting married.

According to the lawsuit, he made threatening phone calls to her when she tried to contact him.

ACP Ashwath Narayan of the Narasimharaja division told The Hindustan Times, “The Iran national visited the police station on 10 February and filed a complaint against Adil khan. We have registered a case under IPC 376 (rape), 417 (punish for cheating), 420 (cheating), 504 (insulting intentionally) and 506 (threatening with life).”

Rakhi Sawant surprised everyone when she revealed about her wedding to Adil Khan through an Instagram post early this year. The couple got married in 2022 and she kept the marriage a secret at Adil’s request. The businessman first refuted the rumours when Rakhi announced their marriage earlier this year, but later accepted it.

Rakhi had also accused Adil of her mother's death and said she would have been alive today had she been given medical treatment on time.
