We love to copy the celebrities we love, dressing like them, copying their haircuts, imitating their actions. Whether it is Shah Rukh Khan's iconic DDLJ haircut or Salman's Tere Naam style people have religiously followed icons whom they love and appreciate. But here an actor is drawing flak for trying to look like the veteran cricketer Jhulan Goswami.

Actor Aahana Kumra has come under backlash after she shared a post as her tribute to cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s life, where she is seen wearing dark-face makeup to look like and match the cricketer’s skin tone.

“No I’m not promoting any film. This is purely a tribute to a woman I admire the most after spending time with her and learning her whole story about her journey, her hardships, and her passion for the sport! (sic),” Kumra wrote in the post on Instagram as she shared her look from the film. Soon after Kumra’s post, Goswami wrote, “Great job keep it up!!

While Kumra said that she is sharing a tribute to the woman she admires the most, fans started criticising her using dark makeup and some even called her racists.

See how the Netizens reacted:

One fan wrote, “This is quite disgusting. Super unnecessary for the makeup to be dusky/dark. This is disrespectful”.

Another Instagram user wrote, “What’s up with the darker tone make-up? Instead why don’t we hire actors with the similar colour tone? It would have been so much better and looked far more natural”.

While fans wanted Aahana's post to be taken down, the legend Jhulan Goswami appreciated Aahana for her work.

Movies, like Hassena Parker, Mary Kom, Saand Ki Aankh, and Bala also faced the kind up of criticism by the viewers as several people pointed out as to why the actors with similar physical features were not given the opportunity but stars of Bollywood used heavy makeup.

What do you think of Aahana's post, is it an insult or tribute?
