New Delhi: 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is mired in boycott campaigns, mixed reviews from a section of audience while many in the critics circle appreciate the film, it's performance and some have even called it better than 'Forrest Gump', the 1994 Oscar-winning classic from which it is adapted. As many on Twitter continue to negatively target the film, Bollywood personalities like Hrithik Roshan, Hansal Mehta and Farhan Akhtar have shown their support for the Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor starrer. In fact, amidst the ongoing controversy, the Academy Awards( Oscars) official Instagram handle also shared a video clip of both films which 'humbled' the 'Laal Singh Chaddha's team.


The caption of the post which coalesced scenes from 'Forrest Gump' and 'Laal Singh Chaddha' in a video clip read, "The caption read as, "Forrest Gump Laal Singh Chaddha Robert Zemeckis and Eric Roth’s sweeping story of a man who changed the world with simple kindness receives an Indian adaptation in Advait Chandan and Atul Kulkarni’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ starring Aamir Khan in the title role made famous by Tom Hanks. 1994's ‘Forrest Gump’ was nominated for 13 Oscars including six wins for Best Actor, Directing, Film Editing, Best Picture, Visual Effects and Adapted Screenplay."


Aamir Khan Productions, the production house which produced 'Laal Singh Chaddha' reposted the Academy's post with a comment, "We’re immensely humbled! Thank you so much 🙏🏻Repost @theacademy."


As 'Laal Singh Chaddha' receives a glimmer of hope and positive reinforcement from the Academy, members of the Bollywood industry have also expressed their experience of watching the film.


 






Hrithik Roshan took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, "Just watched LAAL SINGH CHADDA. I felt the HEART of this movie. Pluses and minuses aside, this movie is just magnificent. Don't miss this gem guys ! Go ! Go now . Watch it. It's beautiful. Just beautiful."


 






On Saturday, 'Scam:1992' filmmaker Hansal Mehta also took to his official Twitter handle to praise 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. He tweeted, "Watched #LaalSinghChaddha. It is a very engaging film made with passion and love. Maybe a bit too overstated emotionally and a bit superficial politically for my taste but a film made with so much care, heart and honesty. It deserves to succeed. So much to admire."


 






On Sunday, Farhan Akhtar through his Instagram story shared what he felt about 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. Farhan shared, "Such a beautiful film. Not easy to live up to a classic like Forrest Gump but Laal Singh holds its own. Congratulations to the team."


'Laal Singh Chaddha’ has been directed by Advait Chandhan. The film took around 3 years to make and almost 8 years to get its remake rights from the original. The film also stars Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh and has been shot extensively across India.
