A new video released by Max on their YouTube channel features the show’s executive producer, Alison Schapker, discussing Tabu’s involvement.
“Tabu is a Bollywood legend, and the fact that she was willing to do it was a great joy for all of us,” Schapker said.
In the series, Tabu’s character is sent by the Sisterhood to manipulate Javicco Corrino, portrayed by Mark Strong. The plot reveals that Francesca is being used by the Bene Gesserit to sow chaos, leveraging her past as Javicco’s lover from their younger days.
Tabu shares her thoughts
Tabu shared her thoughts in a separate Instagram video, saying, “There are so many layers to her, but I see her as a very deep, intense person. She has the power of imprinting, and it allows me to explore so many aspects of the mind. It’s a great coming together of so many things, and for me, to build the character.”
Fans celebrate Tabu's performance
Fans have celebrated Tabu’s performance on social media, though her accent on the show has sparked mixed reactions. Some fans appreciate that she stayed true to her natural accent, while others believe she could have adjusted it to suit the character. One fan commented, “Her character is not Indian, so why could she not adapt just a little bit… Her voice breaks the illusion.” Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “I love how they went with her original accent ❤️🔥.”
The promo for the next episode hints at a dramatic finale, with Francesca seemingly succeeding in seducing Emperor Javicco, potentially securing a victory for the Sisterhood. The season finale is set to stream in India on JioCinema on December 23.
