Along with introducing Wolverine and Deadpool in the present Marvel Cinematic Universe chronology, the teaser pays homage to the characters that created the Deadpool series. X-Men are also referenced in the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ teaser.
Deadpool and Wolverine's reintroduction to the MCU is a result of Disney's 2019 purchase of 21st Century Fox. This allowed Marvel Studios, who had sold the rights to the X-Men films and other associated properties to Fox in 1994, to reclaim these characters.
