New Delhi: The forthcoming British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards will take place in London's Royal Festival Hall at Southbank Centre on February 19 (IST). Actor David Tennat will serve as the show's host. Lionsgate Play will start streaming it in India at 12:30 am.
One of the show's presenters will be Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. On her social media account, she had posted the news and expressed her gratitude for it.
In addition to Deepika, additional presenters include David Beckham, Hugh Grant, Dev Patel, Dua Lipa, and Himesh Patel.
Deepika Padukone had previously presented at the Oscars, when the Best Original Song went to the RRR song "Naatu Naatu."
Oppenheimer (13 nominations), Poor Things (11), Killers of the Flower Moon (9) and The Zone of Interest (9) are among the leading candidates for the BAFTAS this year. Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' appears to be the film to beat going into the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards, having landed 13 nominations, with the director’s most successful film in the UK in terms of box office now becoming its most-nominated on home soil.
Among the prominent omissions from the BAFTA nominations was Lily Gladstone, who is expected to win an Oscar next month, according to sources. In the meantime, co-stars Claire Foy and Paul Mescal received nominations for All of Us Strangers, but Andrew Scott received none.
At the ceremony, Sophie Ellis Bexter will perform the song "Murder on the Dancefloor," which became well-known two decades after it was first released because to the success of "Saltburn." Hannah Waddingham is going to sing a unique cover tune. The Sunday BAFTA Film Awards will take place at London's Royal Festival Hall. Indian viewers will be able to watch the ceremony on Lionsgate Play.
