Mumbai: A businessman from Ahmedabad in Gujarat has filed a complaint with the Mumbai Crime Branch and Cyber Police. He alleged that he was duped of Rs 3 lakh by businessman Raj Kundra's company on the pretext of making him a distributor for an online cricket skill-based game. An official gave this information.


The official said that the police are verifying the complaint and will decide on registering the FIR accordingly. The complainant Hiren Parmar also alleged that the company had duped several people like him to the tune of crores of rupees, the official said.


The official said that in a complaint filed online, complainant Hiren Parmar alleged that Vian Industries promised to make him a distributor of "Game of Dot". He said that the company did not keep its promise after which he demanded a refund of Rs 3 lakh invested by him. However, he did not get any response from the company.


The official said that the complainant claimed to have filed a complaint with the Gujarat Cyber Department in 2019, but no action was taken. Parmar approached the Mumbai Police after Kundra was arrested for allegedly running a mobile application for the distribution of adult films, the official said.

Kundra has been named as the key conspirator by the Mumbai Police which has slapped charges against him under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
