New Delhi: 'RRR' has received praise from all quarters. After Hollywood screenwriters and directors lauded the film for its many technical aspects, Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has made an interpretation of the film that has left fans divided. Most fans have not taken this happily. Resul, who has worked with many Bollywood films said that SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' is a 'gay love story'.
In the film, Ram Charan and Jr NTR play the roles of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem respectively, both on a mission to destroy the British colonial rule in India. The film fictionalized their histories and even coincide the time they lived in.
'RRR' is this year's biggest blockbuster having collected close to Rs, 1200 crores at the global box office, according to IMDb.
The film has been written by V. Vijayendra Prasad.
'RRR' also starred Alia Bhatt who played Ram Charan's love interest in the film. On Sunday, actor-writer Munish Bharadwaj called 'RRR' ‘garbage’ in a tweet. In repsonse to which, Resul wrote, “gay love story.”
Looks like Resul Pookutty was aware of the consequences of such a tweet and had therefore disabled comments for his post. Even after that fans separately shared the post and called out how this was not expected from an Oscar-winner.
A comment read, "Another user wrote: “There is no shame & harm even if it's that kind of story #LGBT. Did not expect such low comments from an Oscar award winner. Respect should be given to the profession irrespective of its language & even if it does not satisfy us (sic).”
After the film's release on Netflix, 'RRR' has been viewed and interpreted differently by international audiences. Many have called out the camaraderie between Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the film as not just platonic. Cultural difference or not, a new interpretation of the film has created a massive uproar on the internet.
