Renowned author and filmmaker Abhik Bhanu has added two prestigious accolades to his illustrious career in 2024. On October 24, he was honored with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Gaurav Award for Best Director for his powerful film 1922 Pratikar Chauri Chaura. Shortly after, on November 30, he received the Indian Authors and Conference Award 2024 in the Political Thriller category for his gripping novel, Lutyens’ Dilli.
A Tale of Power and Resilience: Lutyens’ Dilli
Abhik’s award-winning novel delves into the complex corridors of India’s political capital. Through the lens of Ladli, an ambitious and resilient woman, it uncovers a hidden nexus of power involving bureaucrats, fixers, gangsters, and elites.
Speaking about the novel, Abhik shared: “Ladli’s story is one of resilience and empowerment. From traveling the world with an arms dealer to establishing her media empire, her rise and fall highlight a poignant tale of ambition, redemption, and hope.”
Excitingly, the novel is being adapted into an OTT series, with discussions underway with a major platform. Abhik added: “There’s a growing demand for stories like this, whether as series or feature films.”
Upcoming Adaptations and Literary Contributions
Abhik also revealed plans to adapt his award-winning book Stool Pigeon (winner of the 2019 Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award) into a feature film titled Khabri Four Twenty. Reflecting on his extensive literary journey, he noted: “I’ve written 10 books, including Dark Rainbow, Mahatma After 150 Yrs, Journey of Life and Death, Enslaved by Time, Metamorphosis, and Blind Faith. Eight are published and available globally on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Google Books in 66 countries.”
A Fresh Perspective on History: 1922 Pratikar Chauri Chaura
Abhik’s latest feature film, released globally on June 30, 2023, revisits the Chauri Chaura movement. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s call to reexamine the event, the film highlights hidden facts suppressed during British rule, offering a fresh perspective on a pivotal moment in India’s freedom struggle.
