New Delhi: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been grabbing headlines every day for some time now due to his Twitter acquisition deal. But his mother Maye Musk is also not behind when it comes to making news. The 74-year-old has this time created history by becoming the oldest model to pose for the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue.

Maye took to her social media handles to share the news. “I am so excited to be on the cover of @si_swimsuit at the age of 74. It’s about time!🤩 You can buy your copy of #SISwim22 on May 19th! If you want to see more pics, interview and videos online, head to swimsuit.si.com,” she posted on Instagram.

Maye looks stunning in a one-piece suit by Colombian designer Maygel Coronel on the beach in Belize. On the inside pages, she is seen wearing a variety of swimsuits in various colours and prints. Maye looks picture perfect in almost all the pictures.

In a conversation with the New York Post, Maye talked about what she felt about seeing her cover photos for the first time.

“It feels great. I’ve been modeling for 50 years, and I wasn’t considered a ‘swimsuit model,’ but now Sports Illustrated has let me know that they have a wide diversity of swimsuit models. I think it’s wonderful,” she was quoted as saying.

Maye Musk began her modelling career when she was 14. In 2011, she posed nude for Time magazine’s health issue and became CoverGirl’s oldest spokesmodel at age 69. She also appeared in Beyoncé's ‘Haunted’ music video at 65. Musk holds two Master’s degrees and has penned a memoir, 'A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success', about her life.

Kim Kardashian, Ciara, and Yumi Nu have also graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issues.
