Despite her commendable achievements, Dr Sabeen Ahsan hasn’t forgotten her roots and the lessons she learned from her parents. In a conversation with eminent journalist Faridoon Shahryar, the social worker, psychologist, motivational speaker, social health influencer, philanthropist and entrepreneur opened up on this aspect and how she could relate to actor Sonu Sood, who became a messiah for the downtrodden during the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown in India.
Dr Sabeen Ahsan, while talking about the lessons she learned from celebrities, said, “Sonu Sood ji has also done a lot of social work. In fact, he told me, ‘Sabeen, aapke is nek kaam mein main aapke saath hoon’.”
She continued, “Sonu Sood ji told me about his mother, who’s no more and whom he was quite close to. I could relate to him as even my mother as well as father are no more. Sonu ji has kept her letters and reads them for motivation. He taught me an important lesson that we should live in the present day and make good use of it. We should not believe that we’ll make the world a better place when we achieve success or achieve greater heights in the future. Rather, we should start today and soon life will get better.”
Dr Sabeen Ahsan added, “A lot of people wonder where I got the discipline from. That is all thanks to my father. He had a disciplined lifestyle, akin to an army man. He believed in early to bed, early to rise and getting things done on time. Since childhood, I have seen my parents help people. After their demise, many of them blessed their souls.”
She got teary-eyed as she stated, “They were down to earth and I have imbibed that quality from them. Many wonder why I am so humble all the time. But that’s how I am and there’s no hidden agenda. Also, I believe that acche logon ko acche log hi milte hai.”
