Mumbai: Famous actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who is currently shooting in Turkey for a feature film, is left in deep grief to know that his morther Gayatri Bhattacharya passed away in Kolkata after suffering a heart attack.
Dibyendu's 72-year-old mother could not get a bed on time in any hospital which delayed in receiving treatment, leading to her unfortunate death on May 16th.
The actor is shocked to know his mother's demise. Owing to the difficulties in rescheduling some important scenes of the film, the actor couldn’t fly back from Turkey to India for his mother's funeral and the last rites. The actor continued shooting his untitled film there.
In conversation with ABP News, Dibyendu said, "I never carry my phone on the sets. When I returned to my hotel room, I saw my sister's messages on my phone. I called her immediately. She told that beds are not available in Kolkata, and hospitals are seeing Covid negative reports before any patient is admitted to the hospital there. Sister said that she did not find such demand appropriate in this situation of emergency. Her friends in Kolkata helped to get my mother admitted to the hospital. But before she could get admitted in the hospital, she died."
After receiving the news of his mother's death, Dibyendu wanted to return to Kolkata but realised that he had more than 15 days to return to his home in Kolkata due to the restrictions on flights during the Corona period and mandatory quarantine conditions.
"That day I had to shoot the film at night. Entire day I stayed back at my room and kept crying. No matter how old you get, no one is ever mentally prepared to loose their parents," the actor said.
Dibyendu went on to say that he performed action and comic sequences that night. "I understood the meaning of 'The Show Must Go On' at that time."
On professional front, the actor has featured in various movies and web series including Mirzapur, Criminal Justice, Black Friday, Dev D, BA Pass and Lal Bazaar.
