New Delhi: Sunny Deol and Dulquer Salmaan starrer 'Chup: Revenge of the Artist', thanks to its release on National Cinema Day, has taken a strong start at the box office in India. However, thanks to word of mouth reports, the R Balki directorial managed to do decent business at the box office, earning over Rs. 7 crores net in three days. In the first two days alone, the film collected Rs. 4.70 crores. According to a Box Office India Report, despite a 35% drop in business on the second day, the film has been doing a healthy business.

Despite the theatrical performance of the film, according to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film has recovered all costs through digital and satellite channels. Taking to Twitter, Ramesh Bala wrote, "#Chup The film has recovered all costs through the digital and satellite channels even before the theatrical release. #RBalki directorial #Chup collected Rs 3.06 cr on 1st day, Rs 2.07 cr on Sat, and Rs. 2.25 cr on Sunday, taking the total to Rs 7.38 cr! Overseas - Rs. 3 cr."

According to Hindustan Times, 'Chup's first weekend tally stands at Rs. 7.2 crores and given the fact that the film was made on a meager budget of Rs. 10 crores, it has recovered close to its COP. With ticket prices down again for Navratri, 'Chup' might even perform better. But, with Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer 'Vikram Vedha' releasing over the weekend, the Dulquer Salmaan starrer's business might get affected.

'Chup' stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt. According to our in-house review, the film has a predictable plot, follows the three-act structure, has the Marquezian whodunit element ( of the killer being introduced from the very beginning and then the backstory of how, what, when) with a Guru Dutt dressing.
