New Delhi: Reports of Zareen Khan receiving an arrest warrant from the Kolkata Police in connection with a cheating case recently surfaced. This was in relation to an allegedly fraudulent case which happened in 2018. She reportedly had the charge sheet against her handed to the Sealdah court by the investigating officer, but she didn't ask for bail or show up in court.
According to a report in India Today, the court issued an arrest order for her as because of her regular absences. Zareen's lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee has since released a statement in which he claims that it seems to be an outcome of some misinformation. According to the two-page explanation, Khan has been granted protection in the case by the High Court of Calcutta, and the complainant has been continuously delaying serving papers in the case.
According to reports, the actor was supposed to perform in 2018 at a Durga Puja event in Kolkata. But she never showed up.
“I, for and on behalf of my client Ms. Zareen Khan, would like to categorically place on record as under: That any warrant “inadvertently issued” by the Ld. Magistrate against my client, grossly appears to be a result of “some miscommunication”, as my client had on a continuous basis, been given protection by the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, in the said matter,” the clarification issued by her advocate Rizwan Siddiquee read.
The actor was allegedly duped into believing that the Kali Puja event was being organised by the West Bengali government through the Chief Minister, the Sports Minister, and the Ex-Sports Minister, according to the explanation given by Zareen's lawyer.
Meanwhile, Zareen Khan, who made her Bollywood debut in 'Veer' alongside Salman Khan. She has starred in a number of films in a range of languages, including 'Housefull 2' and '1921'. Her most recent film role was in Harish Vyas' 2021 film 'Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele'.
