New Delhi: Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was one of the most star-studded events in recent times. The wedding and Shubh Aashirwad ceremony each hosted around 2,000 guests, while the grand wedding reception, or Mangal Utsav, on Sunday was attended by approximately 14,000 people, according to Vogue, who exclusively spoke with the bride, Radhika Merchant.

Guests' entry based on QR codes

To ensure the safety of the Ambanis and their guests, extensive security measures were put in place. Guests were given entry based on a QR code sent to their personal mobile phones and wore colour-coded paper wristbands for access to different zones. This strict security was implemented for the wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son.

The QR codes sent to the guests were scanned for entry into the venue, where different coloured paper wristbands were issued to grant access to various zones depending on the colour.

Several A-list stars, cricketers, and business tycoons were seen wearing blue and pink wristbands on Friday and red on Saturday. Employees, security, and service staff wore different coloured wristbands.

Radhika shares the reason behind her wedding date

In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Radhika explained why the dates July 12 to 14 were chosen for their grand union. She described the process as meticulous, stating, “The dates were strategically chosen from the 12th, 13th, and 14th of July upon the advice of our family pujari, who identified auspicious moments for our celebrations based on astrological alignments in both my charts and Anant’s.”

The event has become a global talking point, and here’s what went into executing this grand event with utmost safety and preparedness.

How the Ambanis prepared for Anant and Radhika's wedding

Celebrities and politicians from around the world were invited, including business tycoons, cricketers, film stars, and influencers. The Ambanis hosted multiple events, with an Aashirwad ceremony for friends and family on Saturday and a grand wedding reception or Mangal Utsav on Sunday for a wide range of guests, including employees and business associates.

Three different invitations were sent out to the guests. The top-tier guests received a large red box containing an intricate chest with a mini silver temple featuring gold idols of various Hindu deities—Lord Ganesh, Radha-Krishna, and Goddess Durga. The invitation included different cards for each wedding event, one of which was crafted from silver, resembling the main gate of an ancient Hindu temple. It also contained several keepsakes—an embroidered cloth with the initials AR for Anant and Radhika, a blue shawl, and a silver box filled with more gifts.

Other guests received a simpler invitation, a laptop-sized box with silver statues of three gods and invitation cards.

Guests were asked to confirm their attendance via email or Google Form. Upon confirmation, they received a message stating, “We have received your RSVP and we look forward to welcoming you… the QR codes will be shared 6 hours prior to the event,” according to India Today.
