New Delhi: Rajkummar Rao, who is awaiting the release of his upcoing film 'Srikanth', opened up about property-related advice given to him by megastar Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview with Mashable, Rajkummar Rai said that SRK advised him to buy a house beyond his means, suggesting that it would make him work even harder than before. Rajkummar Rao told the media house, "Shah Rukh sir had taught me one thing ‘Beta kabhi bhi ghar lega na, toh aukaat se thoda zyaada lena. Kyunki phir na, upar wala bhi dekhta hai aur tu khud bhi zyada mehnat karega ( If you ever wish to buy a house, buy one that is almost beyond your means because that way, you will work harder to earn it).

"I found this very fascinating.” He said, “Having a home in the city is of course a dream and we have built it lovingly, me and Patralekhaa.”

Rajkummar Rao's house was previously owned by his 'Mr and Mrs Mahi' co-star Janhvi Kapoor. Rao bought the house in 2020 for a sum of Rs. 44 cr. The luxurious property is spread over 3456 sq feet.

Shah Rukh Khan has also on several occasions in the past shared that his lavish bungalow, Mannat, was way beyond his means. At the launch of Gauri Khan's coffee-table book 'My Life i Design', SRK said, "When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our means, and once we were done buying the house, we didn’t have money to decorate it. We hired a designer, only to realise we couldn’t afford him.”

Earlier, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Rajkumar Rao had also heaped praise on the 'Pathaan' actor and said, "There’s a lot to learn from [Shah Rukh Khan]. Shah Rukh sir, the way he treats you, the way he gives you so much of respect. His whole attention is on you. He’s present, that’s a great quality. Just to listen to someone. At every party, he would go down three floors, come to your car, open the door for you, make you sit and say bye to you till you are out of his sight."
