New Delhi: Neetu Kapoor recounted a bittersweet recollection from her time working on the 1981 movie ‘Yaarana’, namely from when the famous song Sara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana was being filmed. In a previous interview, Neetu said that despite being a part of the well-known song with Amitabh Bachchan, she had to leave the shoot early to go back to Mumbai because of her strong emotional bond with Rishi Kapoor, her then-fiance.
“I remember we were in Calcutta shooting for that stage song in a stadium (Yaarana). We were sitting together, and I was crying, tears rolling down my cheeks. I had just got engaged and I didn’t want to be away from Chintu (Rishi Kapoor). The phones in Calcutta weren’t working. And Chintu was upset that he couldn’t get through to me. Amit asked me why I was crying. I said, ‘I want to go back.’ He replied, ‘You will,’" Neetu Kapoor revealed during a discussion with Rediff.
Neetu continued by describing how Amitabh Bachchan intervened to help her during that time. She said that in order to guarantee her return to Rishi, Amitabh called the movie's producer and asked him to arrange for her to take a flight back to Mumbai.
“He called the producer, asked him to book my ticket back to Bombay, and said they’d manage the song without me. They did. You will notice I am there for half the song and then I disappear," Neetu recounted.
