Vikrant Massey is an actor who has carved a niche for himself with versatile performances and his last year's film '12th Fail'.  The success of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's '12th Fail' brought him massive attention and applause. While we all know that for any outsider in Bollywood, struggles are quite different from the star kids per se. Vikrant's early years in the industry were anything but easy. His family had to endure intense financial hardships, and even had to live in godowns at one point.

Vikrant's Massey's financial struggles

In an interaction with journalist Faye D'Souza, Vikrant shared that while financial struggles can be overcome, he cannot forget the emotional impact that stays on. When asked if he had completely moved past those challenges, he responded honestly, saying he hadn’t. "It doesn’t go away," he explained. "It’s part of your conditioning. You've lived with it for so long that it becomes a kind of paranoia or insecurity. It becomes ingrained in you." He continued, "Even though my future is brighter than my present and I have no financial insecurity today, in the back of my mind, I always feel that life is transient—nothing is permanent. It’s a mindset that comes from what my parents went through."

Family fued in Massey's family

“They used to live in Juhu and were neighbours to the Kapoor family. Theirs was a classical Hindi film story: they had a family feud, were thrown out of their own home, lived in godowns with a baby for almost a year and then finally moved into Versova. They have seen massive ups and downs. Even though you are no longer a part of it, your parents make sure that you remember this through their experiences; the transience and fickle nature of life. Today I’m sitting in a position of privilege and am not feeling how I did 20 years ago when I started off. But can it not happen to me again tomorrow? Of course it can!”

His father's retirement

Vikrant also recalled how his father retired early when he and his brother Moeen began working. He shared that his father worked at the same company all his life and his rapport with the boss was good until the latter passed away because of a heart attack. While his heart was not in the same place, he continued to work in the same company until his brother and Vikrant began working.

Vikrant's mother ran a tiffin service

Vikrant also shared that his mother also contributed financially by running a dabba service. Recalling how she would wake up at 3AM, start cooking by 4 and then by 6, prepare meals for 20 people. After that, she would get her kids ready, send them off to school and go back to sleep. After her kids came back home, she would tutor them , cook, feed, clean and do everthing and then sleep by 11 or 12 at midnight only to wake up again at 3 in the morning.

Vikrant is now gearing up for the release of Dheeraj Sarna's 'The Sabarmati Report' which also stars Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra.
