New Delhi: Veteran actress Basanti Chatterjee felt unwell during shooting last week. After this, the actor was taken to the hospital. Chatterjee, a seasoned actor, is reportedly in a coma according to her family members.
For quite some time, Basanti Chatterjee has been battling stomach cancer. A pacemaker was implanted in her heart recently. She was admitted to a private hospital in Alipore. Reportedly, the actor's kidneys were not functioning properly.

“She got ill three after coming back. Hence she could not go shooting. In fact, she could not recognize anyone. Basanti, 87, has been admitted since March 6. Reports say that her condition is critical. In 2021, she had Covid and was admitted for a long time,” Basanti's help told Anandabazar Online.
Basanti features in the show 'Geeta LLB' which streams on Disney+ Hotstar. The series also features Bhaswar Chatterjee. The actor plays the role of his mother in the daily soap. Bhaswar recently posted a video of him and Basanti together on social media.

In the 1970s, Basanti began her career as a professional actor. She worked in a lot of serials and films. The 85-year-old actor appeared on screen in films starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta and superstar Uttam Kumar. 'Manjari Opera', 'Thagini', 'Aalo', 'Varaan', 'Durga Durgeswari', and 'Bhutu' are just a few films in which she has made an appearance.
