New Delhi: Sunil Lahri, best known for playing Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan', calls out 'Adipurush', starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon. After watching the movie, the actor expressed his disappointment in a video on Instagram.
In the brief clip posted on Monday, Sunil Lahri says in Hindi, “I had high expectations from Adipurush that I will get to see something different but it is very disappointing. You can't play with your culture in the name of doing something different, especially those who are our own. The characters are not defined. The audience doesn't find any emotional attachment with the scenes. In fact the dialogues are also very bekaar (poor)."
He posed a number of questions, such as why Raavan would arrive on a bat rather than a Pushpak Vimaan. The actor also slammed the dialogues in the film. "Can you imagine Hanumanji saying dialogues like ‘tel tere baap ka, kapda tere baap ka’? Or Meghnad will say, ‘abey chal nikal le’? Or Raavan will come on a bat instead of the Pushpak Vimaan? Or Meghnad and Lakshman will fight underwater? I am very sorry but I never expected this from a filmmaker of this calibre,” he added.
In a conversation with ABP news, Lahri said,"It is a good thing to present the story in a new way, but it is wrong to present it by tampering in this way because our foundation has been harmed with it. "
"The decorum of language was followed in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana, but the use of language in 'Adipurush' has hurt a lot, filmmakers don't know what they have tried to tell and whatever is shown in the film is very shameful," he added.
ABP Live review of the film reads as, "The movie has been a mishmash of terrible acting and unbearable dialogue from the moment it began. Nothing changed at the end of the story. With animated characters by their sides who possess superpowers akin to those of Marvel and DC protagonists, Raghav and Raavan engage in combat."
'Adipurush' has earned a remarkable global revenue of Rs 340 crore. In addition to Prabhas playing Raghava, the film also stars Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Sunny Singh as Lakshman, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, and Devdutt Nage as Bajrang.
