New Delhi: After seven years of marriage, Hollywood actress Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have decided to get a divorce. The two made it clear that they were parting ways amicably. They have also asked for privacy as they manage this new phase of their life. Reportedly, Sofia and Joe have been drifting apart for some time. On Monday, they released a joint statement announcing their separation, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” Sofia and Joe said in a statement published by Page Six.
Page Six said, citing an anonymous source: “Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
The last time the two were seen together was in June when Sofia paid Joe a visit on the set of his new film Nonnas with Vince Vaughn in Hoboken.
As per People report, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello first met at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in 2014, when they were introduced by Vergara's 'Modern Family' co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
At the time, Vergara was already engaged. When Vergara told Manganiello that she was breaking up with him later, he asked Tyler Ferguson for her phone number.
In 2015 in Palm Beach, Florida, Sofia and Joe got married. Joe Manganiello reportedly proposed to Vergara over Christmas in Hawaii.
