New Delhi: Late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s parents recently became parents to a baby boy and now his father, Balkaur Singh has voiced concerns over alleged government harassment, claiming he was being pressed to verify the legitimacy of the newborn.

In a video shared across his social media platforms, Balkaur Singh said that he had been subject to undue pressure from the district administration to furnish documents validating his child's birth. Appealing to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he pleaded for time to complete his wife's treatment before providing the necessary paperwork concerning their newborn.

He said, “Because of your blessings, the almighty blessed us by sending Shubhdeep back to us. But I am sad since morning. The district administration is harassing me since morning that I should provide the documents of this child. I am being asked all kinds of questions to prove that this child is legit. I urge the government, particularly the Chief Minister, to allow my wife to complete her treatment. I am here and will comply with all requests once the time is right."

Directing a stern message to the chief minister, Balkaur Singh cautioned against any attempt to intimidate him, emphasising his commitment to abiding by the law. He challenged any insinuation of wrongdoing, inviting authorities to investigate thoroughly while expressing confidence in providing all necessary legal documentation.

According to an Indian Express report, Paramvir Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Mansa, refuted these allegations, dismissing them as unfounded and based on social media speculation.

“I see this is based on some social media post. As far as we are concerned nobody has been directed from district administration to check any antecedents of Mr balkaur Singh’s newborn,” he was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

Moosewala's mother Charan Kaur gave birth to the child at Jindal hospital in Bathinda on Sunday. Sidhu's parents had got congratulatory messages from political figures, and his fans had rejoiced at the news. While announcing the news, Balkaur Singh had shared that he had named him Shubhdeep (SIdhu Moosewala's original name).

Moosewala, a prominent figure among the youth, was known for his musical talents and had ventured into politics before his tragic demise in 2022.
