New Delhi: Shahid Kapoor is known for his diverse filmography. His performance in a wide variety of characters has impressed fans over the years. The 'Farzi' actor is also quite well-known for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat'. Shahid portrayed the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh, who plays the husband of Queen Padmaavat. Shahid has called his performance in the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh starrer 'uptight'.


Recently, in an interaction with a publication, Shahid Kapoor said, if given a chance, he would like to revisit the role and play it differently. In an interaction with Humans of Bombday, when Shahid was asked what role he would like to play differently in his filmography, he replied, "I did not like myself. I was so uptight. I think I did not bring out other elements of that personality, I got stuck in a headspace. I am being candid, maybe other people liked me, but I did not.”


Earlier in an interview with DNA, Shahid had shared that he felt like an outsider on the sets of 'Padmaavat'. He told the publication, "I’m used to being the favourite of all my filmmakers. This was the first time that I was like an outsider. When you work with a team that has worked together, you are kind of an outsider and it takes time for you to break through that barrier.”


In the 2018 film 'Padmaavat', Shahid Kapoor plays a Rajput ruler who is defeated in battle by thethe Delhi Sultanate leader Alauddin Khilji. As a result, his on-screen wife, played by Deepika Padukone ( Padmaavat), resorts to die in valour( commit johar) than give herself over the tyrant who has now become the new ruler of her husband's kingdom.


Despite courting massive controversy during the promotions, for its name and portrayal of Rajputs, the film became a blockbuster hit. As per a Bollywood Hungama report, 'Padmaavat's total worldwide collections stand at Rs. 571. 98 crores.


Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor was most recently seen in 'Farzi' alongwith Raashi Khanna and Vijay Sethupathi. He will next be seen in Ali Abbas Zafar's directorial 'Bloody Daddy'. The film will premiere on Jio Cinemas on June 9.
