New Delhi: Revealing a glimpse into the personal dynamics of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan, a vintage 1994 Filmfare interview has been discovered by Reddit users. The interview sheds light on how Shah Rukh dealt with defamatory articles in the '90s, showcasing a fiery and protective side.
During the interview, Gauri responded to a question about Shah Rukh's openness about their relationship. She dismissed the notion of embarrassment, emphasizing that every husband expresses love for his wife. However, she recalled an incident involving a magazine that insinuated an affair between Shah Rukh and his "Maya Memsaab" co-star, Deepa Sahi.
Gauri recounted how the article upset Shah Rukh to the extent that he took matters into his own hands. "A magazine wrote about him and Deepa Sahi being locked in a room together, and Shah Rukh marched to their office with a gun and broke heads and tables," she revealed. Despite her nonchalant reaction, Gauri acknowledged that Shah Rukh was deeply disturbed by the false accusations and couldn't sleep for three nights.
Addressing another aspect of media scrutiny, Gauri explained why Shah Rukh avoided photo sessions with his co-stars. She shared an incident involving a fabricated story about him and Juhi Chawla having an affair, prompting Shah Rukh to confront the publication by breaking into their office.
“For that story about him and Juhi (Chawla) having an affair, they used a still from Darr. He went and broke up their office. I’ve learned to take these stories in my stride now. I trust Shah Rukh and share a great relationship with most of his co-stars. We spent 10 happy days in London with Kajol, Tanuja Aunty and Shilpa Shetty. We saw all the plays in town, went shopping. I’d die before I suspected him of having an affair,” she added.
In a rare admission, Gauri revealed the "only time" she witnessed Shah Rukh lose his temper was at filmmaker Subhash Ghai's party. While withholding details, she conveyed her disapproval of his violent reaction, highlighting that Shah Rukh usually remained composed unless provoked.
With over three decades of marriage and three children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam, Gauri and Shah Rukh's enduring bond is evident, transcending the challenges posed by the entertainment industry's speculative narratives.
