Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan recently opened up about her financial discipline, sharing that her mother, veteran actress Amrita Singh’s approval is needed to make any expenses. Sara candidly shared that she cannot make major purchases or even book tickets without her mother’s approval.
Sara aspires to buy a Chanel bag
During the conversation on the Times Now Summit 2025, Sara humorously admitted that her Google Pay account is linked to Amrita’s phone, ensuring that her spending habits remain under her mother's watchful eye. “I am aware and mindful about where I spend my money. I don't enjoy spending frivolously. But yes, of course, splurging a little bit... why not? I love traveling, so I save money for that. I don't have a Hermès bag; my mom has, and I borrow it. I seek utility in things. I aspire to buy a Chanel bag one day. But if you are comfortable in Zara, that's great too!” she said.
Sara's mother Amrita handles her money
Highlighting her approach to financial planning, Sara further added, “I have learned that investing in different places is important. My mom handles my money entirely. Even my GPay account is linked to her. My OTPs come to her phone. Forget pocket money, I cannot even book a ticket without her. I go, 'Mumma, can I get the OTP?' She always knows where I am. The little bit of discrepancy, that too, Instagram reveals.”
On the work front
Sara, the daughter of Amrita Singh and her former husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, made her Bollywood debut in 2018 with 'Kedarnath', where she starred alongside the late Sushant Singh Rajput. Since then, she has appeared in films such as Rohit Shetty’s 'Simmba', Imtiaz Ali’s 'Love Aaj Kal', and David Dhawan’s 'Coolie No 1'. Her most recent outing was 'Sky Force'.
Up next, Sara will be seen in Anurag Basu’s anthology film 'Metro… In Dino', alongside an ensemble cast featuring Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film is slated for release on July 4 this year.
