Sandeep Reddy Vanga Shows Edited Version Of Animal To His 7 Year Old Son; Adds His Wife Had Issue With 'Bloodshed'

Sandeep Reddy Vanga has shows an edited version of Animal to his 7-year-old son. His wife, who has also seen the film did not appreciate the bloodshed but had no issues with the treatment of women

New Delhi: Sandeep Reddy Vanga may be enjoying the success of Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna starrer 'Animal' but he shot to fame as early as his first film 'Arjun Reddy'. Not many know that the filmmaker sold off his ancestral land to fund his first film 'Arjun Reddy' which starred Vijay Deverakonda in the lead and has never looked back since. Recently, in an interview, Vanga spoke about how his wife has had no issues with the treatment of female characters in the movie but did complain of the bloodshed in 'Animal'.

Vanga also shared that he had shown an edited version of 'Animal' to his seven-year old and that his brother does not mince words when it comes to feedback. In an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Vanga does not quite understand the concept of 'hits' and 'superhits' but has a favourite scene in 'Animal' and is aware about the film.

“What we did was, we removed all the scenes he shouldn’t be watching, put a new edit on a hard disk, and showed that to him. This was during New Year’s in Goa. He saw the film, but I’ve chopped all the A-rated scenes,” Vanga shared. Laughingly he added, “He said that the underwear action scene was very funny.”

When asked if his wife engages in "ideological battles" with him and if she offers him harsh criticism similarly to his brother Pranay, Vanga said, "Yes, it happens. I get genuine feedback at home. She felt that there was a lot of bloodshed. She didn’t say anything about misogyny and all.”

In a previous interview, Vanga's brother talked about the challenges he had in securing Arjun Reddy's independent financing and the family's role in it. Siddhant Karnick, ‘Animal’ actor, also remembered this tale and said to Kannan, “His brother was telling me, when he started his filmmaking career assisting people, he wasn’t getting jobs as a director. He finally formed a company with friends, and just a month before (filming), his financiers backed out. He was Rs 1.6 crore short. His family got together and sold their ancestral land, 36 acres of mango farmland was sold to fund his movie.”

Despite the controversies around the film, ‘Animal’ has collected more than Rs. 900 cr at the box office.
