Salman Khan recently made a bold statement, asserting that men today no longer want to embody traditional masculinity. The superstar joined the legendary writer duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar at the launch of their docu-series 'Angry Young Men'. During the event, Salman reflected on the duo's influence on cinema and shared his views on the current generation.
Salman Khan's viral 'men' comment
Discussing Salim-Javed’s work, Salman remarked, “A lot of writers simply write. But Salim-Javed infused their scripts with real-life experiences, drawing from what they’ve learned from people, their parents, and the way their children have grown up. They took life and put it into cinema, unlike others who just recycle what’s already been done in films.”
He went on to say, “God creates men, but it seems this generation doesn’t want to be men anymore. My father and Javed Sahab, however, are and always will be true men.” This comment prompted an enthusiastic response from Javed Akhtar, who punched the air in agreement.
About 'Angry Young Men'
Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar are the minds behind 24 films together, 22 of which were blockbusters. Their iconic films like 'Sholay', 'Don', 'Zanjeer', 'Deewar', and many others earned Amitabh Bachchan the title of "Angry Young Man" in the 1970s. Inspired by this, their docu-series has been named 'Angry Young Men'.
The series, featuring interviews with stars like Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, and Amitabh Bachchan, will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 20.
