Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been forced to upgrade his personal security after a series of alarming threats over the past year. Most notably, the actor recently made the decision to reinforce his Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra with bulletproof glass, including his iconic balcony, once the place where he warmly waved to legions of fans.
Why Salman upgraded his balcony with bulletproof glass
While Salman has always greeted fans gathered outside his Mumbai home, especially on Eid, he now does so from behind shatter-resistant glass, a stark reminder of the threats looming over him.
Speaking to ETimes, Salman explained what prompted the extra measures.
"It was just to prevent people from climbing up the balcony and coming into the house," he said. "I would sometimes find people sleeping on my balcony, and that is the reason behind covering the balcony up."
Death threats to Salman Khan
The actor’s decision follows a series of disturbing incidents. In April last year, gunshots were fired outside his Bandra residence, sparking panic and raising serious concerns about his safety. The violence escalated further when Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the attack. This wasn’t an isolated threat, Salman had earlier received a chilling WhatsApp message, warning him of a bomb being planted in his car.
The Bishnoi feud
The threats against Salman are not new. The root of the hostility dates back to 1998, when the actor was accused of killing a blackbuck during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain. The Bishnoi community, which regards the animal as sacred, has since been vocal—and now violent—about their anger. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, currently behind bars, has emerged as one of the key figures in this vendetta, repeatedly vowing action against the star.
