Salman Khan is the son of reputed Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife producer Sushila Charak( aka Salma Khan) and the eldest of five siblings; Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan.


Khan began his career in model advertising for products such as Limca before landing his first film 'Biwi Ho To Aisi'. However, it was with 'Maine Pyar Kiya', the 1989 romantic film that he established himself as a star to reckon with.


Over the years, Khan has experimented with different genres including romance, slapstick comedies, and full-blown action thrillers.
