New Delhi: Music composer Pritam Chakraborty was the victim of a terrible robbery involving the loss of Rs 40 lakhs. The theft happened on February 4, when a production house employee delivered the cash to Pritam's manager, Vineet Chedda, at his music studio, Unimus Record Pvt. Ltd. studio, in Goregaon.

What was the incident?

Vineet Chedda received a bag carrying forty lakh rupees from an employee. Chheda went to Pritam's house to sign some paperwork. When Chheda got back, she found the money in the trolley bag was gone.

Two other employees, Ahmed Khan and Kamal Disha, and the suspect, Ashish Sayal, who is 32 years old, were present during the incident.

Suspicions were raised when Ashish Sayal's phone was turned off and he was no longer reachable. Following Chedda's alert, Pritam suggested that he lodge a police complaint. Following Chedda's alert, Pritam suggested that he lodge a police complaint.

"On the music composer's advice, he approached the police station and lodged a complaint. A case of theft has been registered, and we are trying to trace the suspect. We are reaching out to his relatives and also working on leads through his mobile phone's call data record," said a police officer.

The authorities are also looking into whether Sayal recently borrowed money from anybody or had any financial troubles. "We are also trying to understand whether he had recently asked anyone for money, as that could help us determine the reason for the theft,"  a different police officer said.

No progress has been made in recovering the stolen money while the investigation is ongoing. According to Pritam Chakraborty's spokeswoman, police are still investigating.
