New Delhi: During a recent appearance on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, Bollywood superstar Rekha discussed her remarkable memories working with Amitabh Bachchan on the set of ‘Suhaag’. As a special guest on the popular talk show, the actress reminisced about a famous scene from the song ‘O Sheronwali’, in which she and Bachchan performed a traditional dandiya dance.

A Rekha fan seized the chance to ask about her exceptional dandiya performance in the song, mentioning that she was not of Gujarati origin. Rekha, in her trademark elegant and charming style, was quick to acknowledge Amitabh Bachchan's impact on the performance.

The actress answered, “Ye sochiye ke jinke saath main Dhandiya khel rahi thi, wo kya shaks hai. Acha nahi khelungi toh karungi? Dandiya aati ya na aati ho, saamna aise aadmi-shaqs aa jaata hai toh khud hi har angh angh theedakne lagta hai. (Just think about the person I was playing Dandiya with—what kind of a personality he is. If I didn't perform well, what else could I do? Whether I knew Dandiya or not, when someone like him is in front of you, every part of your being automatically starts moving).”

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, Netflix premiered a special episode of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ starring Rekha.

About ‘Suhaag’

The 1979 box office smash ‘Suhaag’ was the highest-grossing picture of that year. A star-studded cast featuring Shashi Kapoor, Parveen Babi, Amjad Khan, Nirupa Roy, Kader Khan, Ranjeet, and Jeevan were part of the film under the direction of Manmohan Desai

Rumours began circulating during ‘Suhaag’ shooting that Amitabh Bachchan, who is married to Jaya Bachchan, had an affair with Rekha. The indisputable chemistry between them onscreen, nevertheless, was a major contributor to the film's popularity and success.
