New Delhi: Bollywood star Randeep Hooda fell into a depression after his film 'Battle of Saragarhi' got shelved after 20 days of shoot. To play Havildar Ishar Singh in a film was a dream role for Randeep. He had prepared for the part with great care, so his disappointment at the film's cancellation was understandable. The actor has spoken publicly about the time he realised that the film may never be released. He said, "I went through a big stage of depression." His parents, he said, would never let him alone.

Randeep Hooda recently told Mashable India that he was devastated and felt deceived when the ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ was shelved. Despite the filmmakers' dedication to the project for three years, Kesari's success led to the cancellation of their film. In 2019, the film ‘Kesari’, starring Akshay Kumar, was released; it was inspired by the same event.

At around the same time, the actor filmed his role in the 2020 Hollywood action film ‘Extraction’. He said, "In fact, Extraction maine uss stage me ki thi (I did Extraction in that stage)...while I was down and out on this."

Talking about the depressive period, he added, “I was quite affected by it. My parents won’t leave me alone. To escape from them, I would bolt into my room, fearing that someone would cut my beard. Then I decided I won’t let this happen to me ever again.”

Randeep Hooda previously revealed to Mumbai Mirror that he has not seen ‘Kesari’ and that the film doesn't interest him.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Randeep Hooda will next be seen in ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’. The film is directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda with Utkarsh Naithani. He was recently in a music video ‘Zohrajabeen’ alongside Bigg Boss 16 fame Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. The song was sung by B Praak and directed by Aravindr Khaira.
