New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor's last film, 'Animal', has triggered a lot of people since its release. The film's depiction of violence, misogyny, and toxic masculinity has been criticised, but Ranbir Kapoor's gripping performance as a son consumed by revenge has garnered acclaim. As 2025 approaches, the discussion over Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal' continues to split viewers.

Ranbir addressed these accusations during a discussion with media at India's 55th International Film Festival (IFFI) in Goa. When a reporter brought out the film's high levels of violence and negativity, the actor recognised the concerns and emphasised the performers' obligation to make films that convey good themes. "I completely agree with your opinion. As actors, it is our responsibility to bring movies that make a positive impact on society,” he said.

However, Ranbir talked about the value of variety in an actor's career. He said, "But having said that, I'm an actor, it's very important that I also dabble in different genres and characters, and play varied roles.”

Despite the backlash, ‘Animal’ was a big box office hit, collecting Rs 917 crores globally and becoming the third highest-grossing Indian film in 2023. It was also the highest-grossing film of Ranbir's career.
