New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra may be a global star today but she has had to face many challenges before becoming one. The actor recently sat down with Film Companion in a Masterclass session talking about the challenges of being a heroine in mainstream films. Among other things, Priyanka also spoke about dancing in a thin chiffon saree amid snow-capped mountains in Switzerland.
Priyanka Chopra spoke about idolizing Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi but never dreaming of wearing sarees in freezing temperatures amid snow-capped mountains in Switzerland. Recalling a time when she had to do the same, she shared she needed a bucket of hot water under her saree to keep her from shivering as a helicopter above their head took a shot.
Speaking with Bhumi Pednekar about the same, "Oh I will never forget this, I was in a chiffon saree, in Jungfrau, Switzerland, in a green saree. Obviously the guy is dressed in head to toe fur and I am in a blouse and chiffon saree and I was standing in a bucket of hot water for the close-up. And I am saying the lines like this (chattering teeth) and on top of it there is a helicopter above because we are taking a helicopter shot.”
Meanwhile, as clips of Priyanka's interview go viral on social media, many fans have been wondering what song the video is from.
For all those wandering, the song is most likely from the 2005 film 'Yakeen' and the track is 'Meri Aankhon Mein'.
In the film, Priyanka starred alongside Arjun Rampal, who wore a black sweater and black pants while PC wore a green saree with a barely-there blouse.
The overhead shots in the song suggest what might have been the mentioned bucket under her saree.
Priyanka added, "My co-actor is trying to keep me warm and there is a hot water bucket under my saree. Not glamour guys, not glamorous. So, for me, the glamour of the movies became recognising my characters, understanding these girls. It looks beautiful, and even now I want to have my hair blowing. The glamour of it was taken away from me very quickly and I just started enjoying the medium of work and the possibility of what you can do with the characters."
Moving away from mainstream work, Priyanka Chopra then starred in several indie films and honed her craft to become one of the most formidable actors in the industry. She later moved to Holywood and has been almost exclusively taking up Hollywood projects since.
PC returned to Bollywood to do 'The Sky Is Pink' in 2018 and later in an indie production 'The White Tiger' which was released on Netflix.
