Actor Prateik Babbar is set to marry actress Priya Banerjee on Valentine’s Day. However, none of the Babbars have been invited to the wedding. His half-brother, actor Aarya Babbar, recently disclosed that even their father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, has not received an invitation.

Aarya Babbar says Raj Babbar is not invited for Prateik's wedding

In a conversation with ETimes, Aarya Babbar shared his surprise and disappointment over the decision. According to him, the Babbar family, as a whole, has been excluded from the guest list. He admitted to being puzzled by the reasoning behind this, especially since he had always considered himself close to Prateik.

“I presume someone has overpowered his brain too much. He is not wanting to connect with anyone from this side of the family. He has decided not to call anyone,” Aarya revealed, suggesting that external influence might be playing a role in Prateik’s decision.

Aarya feels someone is influencing Prateik

Despite the situation, Aarya seemed reluctant to place the blame directly on Prateik. He extended what he called the ‘benefit of the doubt’ to his half-brother and said that he doesn’t believe this decision reflects Prateik’s true nature.

“Life is not less than a film; someone in the house is influencing him. I don’t want to think it is Prateik, and I don’t think he is like that,” Aarya added. While he acknowledged that it made sense for Prateik to leave out Aarya’s mother and their stepmother, Nadira Babbar, he found it odd that even their father, Raj Babbar, was not included in the celebrations.

This will be Prateik’s second marriage. He was previously married to Sanya Sagar, but the couple later separated.

Prateik Babbar and his bond with his half-siblings

Prateik Babbar is the son of acclaimed actors Raj Babbar and Smita Patil. At the time of his birth in 1986, Raj Babbar was already married to Nadira Babbar and had two children, Aarya and Juhi Babbar. His relationship with Smita Patil led to marriage, but tragedy struck when Smita passed away due to childbirth complications just days after Prateik was born. Following her untimely death, Raj Babbar returned to his first wife, Nadira, and continued raising his family.

Over the years, Prateik has maintained a unique bond with his half-siblings. His sister, Juhi Babbar, previously spoke about their relationship in an interview with Lehren Retro, emphasizing that there was never a need for ‘acceptance’ because he had always been part of their family.

“Accepting isn’t the word because Prateik is my brother. There wasn’t any hesitation. He is my brother and nobody can change that fact,” she had stated.
