New Delhi: After Poonam Pandey's team claimed she had passed away from cervical cancer, the actor declared she was still very much alive. Sam Bombay, the model-actor's spouse, is "happy" that she is still alive, even though many people are upset with the PR stunt she pulled off in the name of cancer awareness.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, he was asked if he was surprised that Poonam had staged her own death. Sam Bombay said, “No. I'm delighted she did. She is alive. That's enough for me. Alhamdullilah.”
"When I heard the news, I felt nothing in my heart. There was no sense of loss. And I thought this can't be. Why do I feel nothing? Because when you're connected, you feel everything. I think about her (Poonam Pandey) every day. And, I pray for her every day. If something was wrong, I'd know,” he added.
Sam Bombay also clarified that they are not divorced, yet. He does not doubt Poonam's intentions despite their current dynamic.
"If someone raises awareness about an issue with complete disregard for their fame or image, let's respect that. Poonam Pandey is timeless. She is the boldest Indian woman. Several years from now, she'll be celebrated,” Sam said.
When her manager double-confirmed to numerous publications that Poonam had passed away on Thursday night from cervical cancer, the industry, and plenty of people on social media fell for it. The actor has received criticism for this from a number of celebrities as well as internet users, who labeled her move "ridiculous" and "disgraceful."
Poonam began her career as a model. She made her feature film debut in 'Nasha' in 2013. The actor also participated in reality-TV shows such as 'Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 4' and 'Lock Upp'.
