Actor Neelam Kothari, who rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s and is now seen on Netflix's 'Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives', recently opened up about a dramatic fight she had with her husband, actor Samir Soni, and her close friend, producer Ekta Kapoor. The fight, which stemmed from an intimate scene that Samir was set to do for an Ekta Kapoor-produced show, caused a rift between Neelam and Ekta that lasted for months.

Neelam says she is very possessive about her husband

In a candid interview with Zoom, Neelam shared that she had been quite possessive about her husband at the time and was upset when she found out about the intimate scenes. However, what really caused the tension was not just the scenes themselves, but the fact that Ekta was the producer of the show. This led to a major fallout between the two women.

"I am very possessive about my husband. I got to know that he had some intimate scenes, which is fine. I didn’t know to what extent those scenes were and Ekta happened to be the producer of that show. So I didn’t speak to Ekta for almost 3-4 months because we had this rip-roaring fight," Neelam said.

The actress went on to explain the heated exchange that occurred between her and Ekta during this time. "I was like, ‘How could you make my husband do this?’ And she was like, ‘Didn’t your husband read the script before doing it?’ So there was this rift that happened.

Neelam admitted that the situation was tough, as it involved both her best friend and her husband. But, as time passed, Neelam learned to come to terms with the nature of Samir’s profession and the types of scenes actors are sometimes required to do.

"Now, I am okay with it. After many fights, and that too fighting with my best friend and my husband at the same time, I have learnt my lesson, zip it," she added.

Samir, in a previous interview with GPlus, had shared his side of the story, revealing that he had informed Neelam about the intimate scenes beforehand and had sought her approval before accepting the role. "Apparently one of her friends had seen the show and she had instigated her, ‘How could you let your husband do something like this?’ and all that,"

Samir recalled. "I told her that I showed her the script. At this point of time, I can’t say no to producers because they had already given me the script and I can’t say no to my wife," he added.
