The documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale premiered on Netflix India on Monday, coinciding with Nayanthara’s 40th birthday. While the release was celebrated with much fanfare, it also came amidst ongoing tension between Nayanthara and her former co-star and producer, Dhanush.
Days after penning a scathing open letter criticising Dhanush for refusing permission to use footage from their 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhan, Nayanthara has now expressed gratitude to the other producers who supported her by allowing footage from their films to be included in her documentary “without hesitation or delay.”
Nayanthara's Thank You Note to SRK, Chiranjeevi
On Wednesday night, Nayanthara took to Instagram to share a heartfelt thank-you note, expressing her gratitude to the producers who issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for the footage. In her caption, she wrote: "The most precious thing i’ve earned in these 20 years of my career is the friendships, love and respect i’ve got from the ones ive worked with. I really thank all the producers who have supported me in this endeavour for their goodwill and magnanimity always.

In her note, Nayanthara revealed her desire to include clips from films that hold “immense significance” in her life and are “close to my heart.” She thanked the producers for sharing “a piece of my most treasured moments” and said she would always cherish their kindness.
She also expressed her hope that they continue to find “happiness in other people's happiness.” Among the producers she named were Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, for her Bollywood debut in Atlee’s blockbuster action thriller Jawan. Others included Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, and AR Murugadoss, among others.
Nayanthara's Open Letter to Dhanush
Last week, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of showing “vengeance” against her after he issued a legal notice objecting to the use of clips from a film he produced in her documentary. In the open letter, she questioned whether Dhanush’s objection stemmed from a “personal grudge” rather than professional reasons.
She also alleged that he demanded βΉ10 crore for three-second clips shot on personal devices during the making of the film, describing the demand as an “all-time low” for him. Referring to Dhanush as a former friend, she stated: “I wanted to believe it was a business call, but it sadly reeks of vengeance.”
Nayanthara’s next film, the action thriller Rakkayie, is eagerly awaited by her fans.
