Mukesh Khanna Criticises Zeenat Aman's Live-In Relationship Remark: 'She Lived Her Life According To Western Civilisation'
Zeenat Aman recently stirred up debate with her advocacy for live-in relationships. Here's what Mukesh Khanna has to say about this.
New Delhi: Veteran actress Zeenat Aman, who recently made waves on social media with her outspoken stance on live-in relationships, has faced criticism from fellow industry veterans. Mukesh Khanna recently voiced his disapproval of Zeenat Aman's viewpoint, emphasising that such relationships are not in accordance with Indian cultural values. He cautioned her against deviating from traditional values.
In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Mukesh Khanna highlighted the cultural disparities in discussing such matters. He said that Zeenat Aman is someone who has lived her life according to Western norms. "Live-in relationships are not recognised in our culture and history. It has come from Western civilisation," he said.
The actor added, "Whatever Zeenat Aman is talking about, she has lived her life according to Western civilization. It is not acceptable for a boy and girl to know each other through marriage, if they live together as husband and wife, imagine what happens to them. Those saying such things should speak thoughtfully."
Mumtaz on Zeenat Aman’s live-in relationship remark
Mumtaz still thinks society isn't prepared to embrace live-in partnerships on a large scale. In an interview with Zoom, she slammed Zeenat Aman’s remark saying, “Zeenat should be careful with what she is advising. She has all of a sudden come into this huge social media popularity, and I can understand her excitement about sounding like a cool aunty. But giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following."
She also said that Zeenat "should be the last person doling out advice on relationships".
Meanwhile, Zeenat Aman will be making her comeback in films with ‘Bun Tikki’, which is Manish Malhotra's first feature film. The film also features Abhay Deol and Shabana Azmi. The film, which is set to be released this year, will be directed by Faraz Arif Ansari.
