New Delhi: The sudden death of 'Friends' actor Matthew Perry has shocked the entertainment industry and saddened his fans. Perry's friends and co-stars on the sitcom, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow, have not yet spoken out about the actor's demise.

According to a Page Six report, the 'Friends' cast members plan to release a joint statement shortly.

“The cast is reeling from the loss of their brother because that’s what Matty was — their brother,” a source told the publication. “It’s just devastating,” the source continued.

“The entire cast are close, they will be devastated, because they were together through the best of times and worst of times. And when Matty was sick, they protected him, they looked after him fiercely,” he added.

The show's executive producer, Kevin Bright, along with creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane released a statement following Perry's death. LA Times quoted them saying, “We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart. We send all of our love to his family and friends."

Matthew Perry seems to have drowned after being found unconscious in his Los Angeles home's hot tub on Saturday. However, as there are no signs of drug or alcohol misuse, mental illness, or criminal activity, the reason for death remains unknown at this time.

The most well-known role that Matthew Perry played was Chandler Bing on 'Friends'. During a 2015 interview on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers', Perry—who passed away at the age of 54—recounted how he nearly missed his opportunity to act in the sitcom. Perry stated how his manager had informed him he had "no money" in 1994, which made him desperate for work.
