New Delhi: During her visit to Mumbai, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stopped by Amitabh Bachchan's home. On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee landed in Mumbai for the third INDIA alliance summit. Prior to the meeting, Mamata made time to see the actor at his residence in Jalsa.


Aditya Thackeray greeted Mamata Banerjee as she landed at the Mumbai airport earlier today. Bachchan reportedly welcomed Mamata Banerjee to his home for tea on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, according to ANI news agency. Amitabh and his wife Jaya Bachchan have a strong relationship with CM Banerjee.

Later, after her meeting with the Bollywood superstar, Banerjee addressed the press stationed outside Bachchan's residence. She spoke about their meeting and said, "I am happy today. I met 'Bharat Ratan' of India Amitabh Bachchan (Mamata Banerjee called Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan Bharat Ratan) and also tied him rakhi. I love this family. They are the number one family in India and they have a lot of contributions also...I also invited him to attend Durga Puja and International Film Festival."






Mamata Banerjee also posed with the the Bachchan family. Besides Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, the pictures also featured Shweta Bachchan Nanda and her daughter Navya Nanda. 










Previously, in 2022, Amitabh also attended the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) opening ceremony when the chief minister urged that he be given the nation's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, for his contributions to Indian cinema.


"Although not officially, but from Bengal, we will raise this demand to honour Amitabh Bachchan with the Bharat Ratna award for his contribution to Indian cinema for such a long time," she said.


In the run-up to the 2021 Assembly elections, Amitabh Bachchan's wife, actor and MP Jaya Bachchan, ran a campaign for Banerjee's party, Trinamool Congress.


Currently, Amitabh Bachchan is busy with the 15th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). He most recently appeared in Sooraj Barjatya's 'Uunchai' starring Anupam Kher and Boman Irani. Bachchan will star alongside Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in the upcoming Indian film 'Kalki 2898 AD'. The movie is scheduled to premiere on January 12, 2024. He is also working on 'Section 84', the upcoming courtroom drama from director Ribhu Dasgupta. Diana Penty, Nimrat Kaur, and Abhishek Banerjee will play key roles in the movie.
