Malaika Arora, who is celebrating her 49th birthday today, met her former husband Arbaaz Khan during a coffee advertisement for MR Coffee. However, the ad was banned due to its sensuous content. Their romance blossomed, and it was love at first sight. While Arbaaz proposed to her with a ring, Malaika took the initiative to ask him to marry her.

Although the couple is now separated, their bond remains strong, and they continue to support each other. Recently, when Malaika’s father passed away, Arbaaz was the first to offer his support during that difficult time.

Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan's banned coffee ad

Arbaaz and Maliaka’s love story started with a bold coffee shoot for the MR Coffee advertisement, which was so steamy that it got banned. The ad featured their sizzling chemistry, set to the classic Elvis Presley hit ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’. It was so intense that it was banned from airing on YouTube, although someone shared it on the platform last year.

Malaika revealed that she was just 18 when they met on the set of MR Coffee, and by the end of the shoot, they had completely fallen for each other.

They soon began dating; although they didn’t meet often at first, they stayed in touch through phone calls. On her birthday, when she visited Arbaaz's house, she found him unwell. That was when he proposed to her. Malaika said, "We both fell in love at the same time. But, I was the one who said that we should get married. Arbaaz did not propose to me."

In an interview with TOI, Malaika recounted that before the coffee ad shoot, she had spotted him in a club with his friend Sajid Khan. Like many girls back then, her sister was a fan of Salman Khan, but when she saw Arbaaz, she told her sister, “I like him. He’s my type.”

Malaika and Arbaaz got married on December 12, 1998, in a lovely Christian wedding followed by a nikah ceremony. They welcomed their son Arhaan in 2002 but eventually separated after 19 years of marriage. Arbaaz is now married to makeup artist Giorgia Andriani, while Malaika was reportedly dating Arjun Kapoor.
